West Kings Twirlers is a Square and Round dance club and has Melvern Square Community Center as its home base. This club had its beginning some 20 years ago at the community hall in Tremont. Thus the name West Kings. The numbers soon grew where this hall was too small and the club moved to Pine Hill Elementary school until Melvern Square Community Center became available.
The Club has 35 members or just over four squares. The club dances; Friday evenings from 8 to 10 pm starting the last Friday in September to the 2nd Friday in May. A class for new Square Dancers is also held on Friday evenings starting at 7 pm. Square Dancing is international and all calling is in English. A Texas Doctor advises that Square Dancing is tops in exercising and can add ten years to your life. Former dancers and new dancers interested in dancing with The West King Twirlers are invited to come or can call; Bob and Kay Amos at; 765-3809, Club Presidents.
